About the charity
An independent charity providing practical, direct support to people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK and USA.
Remove the practical barriers that hold people back.
Poverty is rarely one big problem. It is a chain of small, urgent ones.
A furnace that fails in January. A laptop needed for a college course. A pair of boots and a club fee that keep a kid in the game. We exist to break that chain with fast, targeted, dignified support, founded and core-funded by the New York Jets, backed by official partners The Home Depot and Mailchimp and by individual donors, and delivered with local organisations that know their communities.

How we work
Dignity
People are experts in their own lives. We ask only what we need to, and never make anyone justify their poverty.
Speed
A crisis grant that arrives in six weeks is not a crisis grant. We measure and publish our decision times.
Transparency
Accounts, grant criteria, policies and outcomes are public. If we would be embarrassed to publish it, we do not do it.
Partnership
Local organisations reach people we never could alone. We fund them, learn from them and share credit with them.
